Emergency Dental Care
A dental emergency includes issues such as toothache, chipping or breaking a tooth, or knocking or partially dislodging a tooth. You will also need to see a Penticton dentist quickly if you happen to lose a filling if a crown comes loose or you break a dental appliance such as a denture or brace.
Penticton Dental Emergencies
Prompt, Compassionate Dental Care When You Need It Most
Dental emergencies can be inconvenient at best and sometimes scary, but we are here to help you. Each day, we put aside appointments, especially to see any regular patients who have dental emergencies. We can provide a prompt diagnosis and treatment to relieve pain and discomfort. When you need emergency dental care, please contact our practice immediately.
Our experienced dental team can schedule an emergency dental appointment and offer expert advice on coping with the issue until you can see us. If you cannot get through to us immediately, please leave a message. We listen to these messages regularly, even over the weekend, so you never need to suffer for any length of time without our help.
When to See a Dentist Urgently?
We make every effort to quickly see patients in pain and discomfort, but some emergencies require more urgent care. You must see a dentist immediately if you knock out a tooth. Sometimes, with prompt dental care, we can save a knocked-out tooth and can successfully reinsert it. However, this usually needs to be done within the first half an hour to an hour after the accident. You can try to reinsert the tooth yourself, but otherwise, store it in a small container in a little milk or saliva and come and see us straight away. A child’s primary tooth should not be reinserted, but they will still need to see a dentist quickly.
If you have a severe tooth infection causing fever, chills or a high temperature, you must seek urgent dental or medical care. If you cannot see a dentist, then go to the nearest emergency room. A tooth infection can spread from the tooth, affecting your body, and in the worst case, can spread to the brain, although this is rare. Ideally, if you notice a tooth feels uncomfortable, then make an appointment to see us. The sooner we can treat tooth infections, the greater the chance we can save the tooth.
